We’ve decided to cycle to work instead of driving, a couple of days each week. Making this change not only helps the environment but there’s also the added Health benefits for us, as we are fitting in more exercise into our weekly routines.

When David and Cathy first heard about the Helpske Project they knew straight away they wanted take part. When they considered, what small changes could they make to their everyday lives, that would have a positive impact on the environment, one course of action immediately sprung to mind and this was largely due to a recent article they had read outlining some facts about commuting to work by car:

“A car that commutes just 8km to and from work every day generates a tonne of noxious gases over the course of its life, not including the pollution generated by its production and the plastic and rubber required to keep it going. Bicycles are virtually carbon-neutral.”

So, Cathy and David have committed to cycling to work instead of driving, a couple of days each week. For them, there’s also the added Health benefits in making the switch because it means they are fitting in extra exercise into their weekly routines, that’s not only good for their health but also helps boost energy levels – it’s a huge motivator.
